Tonight the Wichita Wingnuts play game two of a three-game series against the Lincoln Saltdogs at Haymarket Park. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05pm. The Saltdogs beat the Wingnuts last night 16-6.

The Starters:

Wichita: LHP Leonard Landeros (5-3, .4.28) - Landeros last worked on 7/23 at St. Paul, allowing one run in 3.2 IP before leaving with a groin injury while taking the loss. Landeros is 0-0 in two starts vs. Lincoln and is 3-2 with a 4.09 ERA in eight starts on the road.

Lincoln: RHP Jarrett Gardner (9-4, 3.51) - Gardner last worked on 8/2 vs. Sioux City in relief, taking the loss after allowing one run in 0.1 IP. His last start was on 7/28 at El Paso in which he threw a complete game shutout. Gardner is 4-3 with a 4.73 ERA at home in eight starts, and is 1-0 in two starts against the Wingnuts.

Tonight the Wichita Wingnuts open a three-game series against the Lincoln Saltdogs at Haymarket Park. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05pm. The Wingnuts beat the Saints Thursday 7-6 to win two of three. With 20 games left in the season, Wichita begins tonight 4.5 games out of first place.

The Starters:

Wichita: RHP Kevin Cheppenko (1-1, 2.93) - Cheppenko will be making his second start as a Wingnut. He started vs. Sioux City on 7/19 allowing two runs in 6.0 IP and taking the loss.

Lincoln: LHP Dusty Bergman (1-12) - Bergman last worked on 7/26 at Shreveport, throwing a complete game and earning the win. He will be making his first start since being placed on the DL. He was 0-12 with Sioux City before signing with Lincoln.

The Starters:

Wichita: LHP Brad Davis (6-7, 4.18) - Davis last worked on 7/26 at St. Paul allowing two runs in 5.1 IP and striking out a season-high eight batters while picking up the win. He is 2-1 vs. St. Paul in three starts and is 3-2 with a 3.79 ERA at home in six starts.

St. Paul: RHP Jeff Blitstein (0-0, 1.50) - Blitstein made his 2008 debut on 7/27 at Sioux Falls, allowing one run in 6.0 IP. Blitstein pitched for the Lincoln Saltdogs in 2006 and 2007, while finishing last year with Winnipeg of the Golden League.

Tonight the Wichita Wingnuts play a double header against the St. Paul Saints at Lawrence-Dumont Stadium. First pitch for Game 1 is scheduled for 5:05pm with Game 2 beginning approximately 20 minutes after the completion of the first game. Wichita had their game against Sioux City rained out last night, which will be made up on the road on August 7th. Tonight’s double header was scheduled at the beginning of the season.

The Starters:

Game 1:

Wichita: RHP Gustavo Mata (3-6, 4.70) - Mata last worked on 7/24 at St. Paul, allowing six earned runs in 1.1 IP while taking the loss. He is 1-3 with a 5.50 ERA at home in seven starts. Mata is 0-1 in three starts against the Saints.

St. Paul - Dustin Bolton (4-5, 3.89) - Bolton last worked on 7/25 vs. Wichita. The Wingnuts scored 10 runs, seven earned against Bolton in 6.0 IP with Bolton taking the loss. Bolton has also faced the Wingnuts twice in relief this year, and is 2-2 with a 3.00 ERA on the road in 11 appearances.

Wichita: RHP Asher Demme (0-0, –) - Demme will make his Wingnuts debut after being signed last Monday. He has not pitched professionally since 2006 when he was with the Rome Braves in the South Atlantic League.
