Tonight the Wichita Wingnuts conclude a two-game series with the Sioux City Explorers at Lewis and Clark Park. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05pm. Tonight is also the final game of the first half for Wichita. The Wingnuts can clinch sole possession of second place in the North Division with a win.

The Starters:

Wichita: Justin Young (3-2, 3.49) - Young last worked on 6/22 vs. El Paso. He allowed four runs in 7.0 IP while taking the loss. He is 1-0 in two start vs. Sioux City this season, and is 0-1 with a 4.50 ERA in four starts on the road.

Tonight the Wichita Wingnuts finish a three-game series vs. the Shreveport Sports at Lawrence-Dumont Stadium. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05pm. Shreveport beat Wichita last night by a score of 4-2. With the loss, the Wingnuts were eliminated from the first half race.

Wichita: Brad Davis (4-5, 3.77) - Davis last worked on 6/19 at Sioux Falls. He allowed three runs, two earned, in 4.1 IP in a loss to the Canaries. Davis is 3-0 with a 1.90 ERA at home in three starts.

Tonight the Wichita Wingnuts play game two of a three-game series vs. the Shreveport Sports at Lawrence-Dumont Stadium. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05pm. The Wingnuts set an American Association record with 12 runs in the bottom of the sixth inning last night, en route to a 16-2 win. The Wingnuts are 4.5 games out of first place with four games left to play. The Sioux Falls Canaries have six games left.

Wichita: Gustavo Mata (3-1, 2.76) - Mata last worked on 6/18 at Sioux Falls. He allowed one earned run in 8.0 innings of work and picked up the win. He is 1-0 with a 3.86 ERA in four starts at home.

Tonight the Wichita Wingnuts play game two of a three-game series vs. the El Paso Diablos at Lawrence-Dumont Stadium. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05pm. The Wingnuts beat the Diablos 8-3 last night. The Wingnuts trail the first place Sioux Falls Canaries by 2.5 games with seven left to play in the first half.

The Starters:

Wichita: Doug Hurn (2-1, 4.50) - Hurn will make his first start of 2008. He last worked on 6/15 vs. St. Paul, allowing two earned runs in a 1.1 IP relief outing. Hurn started 10 games this spring for Oklahoma Baptist Unviersity. He has a 3.65 ERA in 12.1 IP at home this year.

The Wingnuts fell to Sioux Falls last night by a final score of 8-1. Wichita is now 3.5 games back of the first place Canaries, and 1.5 games back of the second place St. Paul Saints.

The Starters:

Wichita: Richard Salazar (0-2, 3.06) - Salazar will be making his first start since August 7, 2006. He last worked on 6.15 vs. St. Paul, pitching the final three innings of a 12-4 loss. Salazar did not allow a run. He has made 16 appearances out of the bullpen this season.

El Paso: David Whigham (3-3, 4.85) - Whigham last worked on 6/14 vs. Shreveport, allowing five runs, four earned, in 6.0 IP. He took a no-decision. Whigham beat the Wingnuts in El Paso on 5/13, allowing one earned run in 6.0 IP. He is 2-2 with a 4.03 ERA on the road in four starts.

Wichita defeated Sioux Falls last night by a final score of 5-1. Wichita is 2.5 games back of first place Sioux Falls at the start of tonight.

The Starters:

Wichita: Brad Davis (4-4, 3.74) - Davis last worked on 6/14 vs. St. Paul, allowing two earned runs in eight innings in a win vs. St. Paul. He is 1-1 vs. Sioux Falls this year, having allowed just three earned runs in 15.2 IP. Davis is 1-4 with a 5.22 ERA on the road in five starts.

Wichita dropped both ends of a double header last night by scores of 2-0 and 10-2. Wichita is 3.5 games back of first place Sioux Falls at the start of tonight.

Tonight the Wichita Wingnuts open a four-game series against the Sioux Falls Canaries at Sioux Falls Stadium in South Dakota. Tuesday features a double header, made of two seven inning games. The twinbill makes up the game lost between the two teams due to rain on 6/5. First pitch for game one is scheduled for 6:05pm.

The Starters:

Wichita: Justin Young (3-0, 3.30) - Young earned his third win of the year in his last start, allowing three runs in 6.0 IP vs. Lincoln on 6/11. He took a no-decision against Sioux Falls on the road on 6/4, allowing five earned runs in 4.1 IP in heavy rains. He is 0-0 with a 5.06 ERA on the road in three starts.
